Police officers from Lom have uncovered the theft of part of the Christmas decorations from the central square “Svoboda“ in the city, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Montana announced.
The decoration disappeared on Christmas Eve - December 24. After a report was filed the next day by an employee of the municipal government in Lom, an investigation was launched and the thief was caught.
It turned out that the perpetrator was a 46-year-old woman from Lom with a criminal record. The illuminated decorative deer were found in her home, which she handed over to the police and were then returned to the municipality and re-installed in the square.
The case is under investigation, and the extent of the damage is being determined.
In many municipalities in Montana region this year, local governments have announced competitions for the best Christmas decorations. In other settlements, however, there have been no cases of theft of decorations from squares and public buildings, the police said.
