At the invitation of high-ranking Qatari academics, a delegation from UniBIT, led by the famous Bulgarian public figure, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of this University, Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Stoyan Denchev, is on an official visit to Doha, the capital of the State of Qatar.
This morning, in the presence of the Bulgarian Ambassador to Doha, H.E. Plamen Delev, Prof. Denchev delivered a public lecture on the topic “International business and education: a converging paradigm” to more than 200 students, doctoral students, university professors and researchers. It was held at the oldest private university, Al Rayyan International University College (ARIU). It began with several advertising videos showing the beauties of our Motherland – the Republic of Bulgaria, after which Prof. Denchev, assisted by Dr. Bella Tetevenska, Head of the International Department of UniBIT, made an extensive presentation of the University.
Prof. Denchev's lecture became a cornerstone of the subsequent discussion on the problems of international business and international education. Over 10 questions were asked, both by lecturers and students who were interested in the possibilities of building an academic bridge between Bulgarian and Qatari education, science and culture.
The scientific event was broadcast and watched online from Bulgaria, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and India.
After the end of the lecture, Prof. Denchev greeted all participants and listeners on behalf of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Krasimir Valchev.
With closing remarks, Ambassador Delev addressed the attendees, highlighting the significant role of Bulgaria in the development of European educational and scientific policies.
With the authorization of the Rector of UniBIT, Prof. Irena Peteva, Ph.D., Prof. Denchev signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between UniBIT and Al Rayyan International University College (ARIU), represented by its Chancellor – the young Bulgarian Professor Ivan Ninov.
In the afternoon, the UniBIT delegation visited the National Library of Qatar, which is an architectural jewel in the heart of the desert. Prof. Hristina Bogova, in her capacity as Dean of the Faculty of Library Science and Cultural Heritage of UniBIT, introduced the Management of her hosts to library education in Bulgaria.
The business day ended with a visit to the largest private museum in the Persian Gulf - Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum, whose area and expositions exceed the total territory and collections of the national museums in the Gulf countries.
Tomorrow, the delegation is scheduled to make an official visit to the most representative cultural institution of Qatar, Katara Cultural Village Foundation, as well as a visit to the national archives of Qatar, where agreements for future cooperation will also be signed.
