An Australian farmer woke up in the night to find a two-meter python swallowing her clothes in the bathroom, ABC News reported.
A resident of the Northern Territory, Moira Lanzarin, runs an animal farm far from large settlements. She recently woke up in the night and went to the bathroom. There she found a two-meter olive python that had already swallowed half of her work apron, which was lying in a basket of dirty laundry.
„I turned on the light and saw a python on the bathroom floor, curled up in a ball and frantically grinding my new work apron from the laundry basket. When I looked in the bin, I realized there was one more thing missing – my underwire bra,” Lanzarin said.
The farmer added that the python wasn’t happy with its choice of snack and soon “gave back” the clothes it had eaten. The woman initially wanted to throw away the filth-covered items, but then she soaked them thoroughly and washed them several times. Lanzarin released the snake back into the wild.
Northern Territory National Park’s reptile specialist Kyle Wiggins said pythons often react to smells. That’s why the snake may have been attracted to dirty laundry. When working with chickens or dogs, the smell left on the farmers’ clothes could be of interest to the python, and it might mistake such items for food.
