Prime Minister Zhelyazkov completely rightly convened an expanded Security Council to the Council of Ministers and invited the parliamentary parties. Europe is firmly determined - albeit reluctantly - to defend its strategic autonomy vis-à-vis the US and to develop its own capacity - compensating for the lack of a military component to its economic power. In this process, there is no room for "downgrading" or “neutrality“, because the dynamics of events in the EU will unfold beyond the control of Orban, Fico and Trump.
Large-scale military orders for European arms industries and the redirection of resources to European armaments at the expense of American ones come to the fore. Even more important - the restoration of Ukraine will become a strategic business priority. It is military orders that will be the main driver of growth in Europe.
Ukraine itself can solve the human resource problem at the front, even at the cost of full mobilization. In this context, speculation about “Bulgarian soldiers on the fronts“ is a manipulation with deep strategic consequences. There is no option for “peace in Russian“ - i.e. through the capitulation of Ukraine.
The rearmament of Europe will not be just a national effort and will not be decided by consensus, seeking the approval of Fico and Orban or Radev - it will take place within the framework of a “coalition of the willing“. But these coalitions will gradually become an independent internal integration circle of the EU and Europe as a whole. This also includes the expansion of nuclear guarantees by France and Britain to the countries that are part of this coalition. Those who rely on Trump for a nuclear shield against Russia will be left to solve their own equations.
It is clear that the US - which, although formally still in NATO, is an unpredictable partner - cannot be relied on.
At one time, Primakov offered us neutrality - today the president and his allies are offering its remake. But without Europe, Bulgaria is doomed.
We should not deceive ourselves - if we remain outside the new security formats in Europe, we will inevitably fall out of the formats of economic cooperation.
