Olivier Verdon and Kwadwo Dua scored one goal each in both halves and Ludogorets won 2:0 against Cherno More to secure their 14th consecutive title in the Bulgarian football championship. The champions lead Levski by 16 points, who can win no more than 15 by the end of this season, BTA reported.
Cherno More occupies the fourth position in the provisional standings with a one-point deficit against Arda. The two teams are competing for a direct quota for the Conference League, and the loser will have to play a play-off. The most likely opponent is the CSKA-Sofia team.
Ludogorets reached the situation first and Jakub Piotrovski made a miss, and Cherno More responded in the 12th minute. Viktor Popov advanced down the right wing and passed to Derrick Osei, who was uncovered in the penalty area, who shot against the Ludogorets side post.
The Frenchman made another big miss before the end of the half, but it did not end without a goal. In the second minute of added time, Razgrad was fouled on the left wing and Son crossed straight to Olivier Verdon's head. He intercepted the ball and beat Plamen Iliev for 1:0.
Ludogorets dominated the start of the second half against the "sailors" and made four misses through Eric Marcus, Kwadwo Dua and Caio Vidal in the opening 20 minutes. In the 68th minute, however, Vlatko Drobarov and Zhivko Atanasov made a blunder and Agibu Kamara brought out Kwadwo Dua on the left wing, and the Swiss international scored his seventh goal of the season for 2:0.
The score remained unchanged until the end and Ludogorets opened the champagne in honor of its 14th consecutive title. Only Levski (26) and CSKA (31) have more. This was the first championship trophy in Bulgaria for head coach Igor Jovicevich, who was also the champion of Ukraine with Shakhtar Donetsk in 2023.
