Three laws have been introduced in the National Assembly and some decision will be made, but I want to clarify a few things about shared parenting. The topic of shared parenting concerns men's rights more, because in principle, children are given to the mother. This is how it is written in the law, and for the father, a regime of seeing the child once or twice a month is provided. All the rest of the time is for the mother. And this is somehow like a presumption of the court, although sometimes equal rights are also ruled. But, in general, in practice, 10% remains for the father, and 90% for the mother. He announced this to Lili Marinkova in the studio “FACT“ and the show “Conversation“ Andrey Kiryakov, who has been working for years to equalize the rights of men and women when deciding parental rights.
„And here comes the big problem, because there are thousands of cases, and every father - because it is more often the case - suddenly faces many problems such as lawsuits, social disputes, interrogations at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, etc. And everyone goes through this alone! Very few people have the strength to come out and talk about the topic“, Andrey Kiryakov also shared.
„It is clear that no law can regulate the relationship between two people, and it is best for them to understand each other themselves and not lead to lawsuits and any disputes. But what does the experience of the Balkans, in other countries around us, show? In recent years, things have started to go well here towards shared parenting, but in Greece and Romania they have already introduced it into their legislation for several years. A study by psychologists has shown that a child should spend at least 30% of their time with one parent - regardless of which one, in order not to lose the connection, in order to have full contact. This means at least 10 days a month. The idea is to reach this one third in our country, to enshrine this 30% in law,“ the guest also said.
