Moscow does not rule out lowering the level of diplomatic relations with Washington under certain scenarios. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov in an interview with TASS.
According to him, Russia has never taken proactive steps in relations with the US or other NATO countries.
"But in my opinion, they are quite possible if the Western group goes on the path of escalation, the diplomat emphasized, And not necessarily from the point of view of further increasing support for Kiev, but, for example, in terms of our assets or other actions in the economic sphere.
What exactly will be the "trigger" in this situation, it is not a question to be decided today, noted Ryabkov. At least I am not ready to talk about this topic, he explained. If there is a new escalation, it will be the subject of a separate analysis and decision-making at the level of the political leadership.
The deputy minister also added that the absolute recklessness of the Western group gives the Russian side "every reason to calculate such options".
