US President Joe Biden planned to publicly invite Ukraine in NATO, but changed his mind, reports Bloomberg, citing a source.

The material notes that this idea was considered one of the steps to strengthen Ukraine before the arrival of US President-elect Donald Trump in the White House. Alternatively, Washington intended to develop bilateral security agreements that would provide guarantees to Kiev.

According to the author of the article, Trump's promises to end the conflict could become a prerequisite for a negotiated settlement.

A day ago, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said that Kiev could launch long-range missiles at Russia and also hinted at a possible invitation to Ukraine to join NATO, noting that the allies were working to converge positions si.

Ukrainian troops are suffering huge losses on the battlefield, British expert Alexander Mercuris said on his YouTube blog.

„Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to suffer horrendous losses on all fronts, and there are no signs that these losses will abate significantly,” he said.

According to the expert, the Western powers are frantically trying to take some action. They are taking desperate steps and supplying the Ukrainian armed forces with everything without a specific purpose, Mercuris concluded.

Earlier on Sunday, the Ministry of Defense reported that Ukrainian troops lost up to 1,545 servicemen across the front lines within one day.
