British Foreign Secretary David Lammy said everything possible would be done to help the British national who is reported to have been captured by Russian forces during of fighting in Ukraine. The information was transmitted by DPA and PA Media, quoted by BTA.

Lamy was asked about a man who identified himself as James Scott Rhys Anderson – A 22-year-old ex-British soldier. In a statement, the minister said:

"I have been keeping up to date with developments over the past few days and of course we will do everything we can to support the British citizen."

In a video shared on social networks and originally published on the "Telegram" platform, the man is dressed in uniform, speaks with a British accent and appears to have his hands tied.

He states that he served in the British Army from 2019 to 2023. in the 22nd Signal Regiment, 252nd Company. After losing his job, he volunteered with the International Legion of Ukraine, but describes it as a mistake:
"It was a stupid idea," he says in the video.

Anderson explains that he traveled from London to Krakow, Poland, and then to the Ukrainian border. Russian state media source TASS claims he was captured in Russia's Kursk region.

The case is attracting international attention as British authorities investigate the circumstances and discuss measures to ensure his safety.
