Iranian heavy drone "Mohajer -6" which crashed over the weekend in the Kursk region, was carrying Iran's latest "Kaem-5" smart guided bombs.
This was revealed by Bild's military expert Julian Röpke. He commented on a video from the scene of the accident.
It is believed that the drone was supposed to attack the territory of the Sumy region of Ukraine, but failed to reach the target and crashed.
In appearance, the ammunition from the photo and video is really very similar to "Kaem-5" - a small-diameter smart aerial bomb that can be mounted on the Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles of the Mohajer-6 series. and "Hamaseh".
This bomb is video guided and can be equipped with different types of warheads. Its declared range is up to 40 km, and its minimum operational altitude is about 3 km. It was accepted into service in Iran in August 2019.
Developed by the Iranian company Qods Aviation Industries "Mohajer-6" went into serial production in 2018 and is considered Iran's most successful export drone.
Intended for both reconnaissance and combat operations, the drone has a maximum take-off weight of 600 kg and a wingspan of 10 meters.
It is powered by a Rotax 912 three-blade piston engine that provides a top speed of 200 km/h, a ceiling of 5.5 km and a range of around 2,000 km.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Russian forces have been using "Mohadzher-6", but without weapons. According to Röpke, the use of smart bombs "Kaem-5" speaks of a new level of military sophistication between Moscow and Tehran.
