Maria Zakharova: Lithuania is destroying itself - 1

The imposition by the Lithuanian authorities of a ban on the import of agricultural products and feed from the Russian Federation is " ;shot in the leg". This is stated in a comment by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, quoted by TASS.

"Such a ``shot in the foot,'' even if it succeeds in gaining the approval of Vilnius's foreign patrons, is unlikely to have a significant impact on the economic interaction between our countries, which was actually limited at his initiative,'' she said. .

According to Zakharova, such a decision by Lithuania shows a desire to continue the destructive line of complete interruption of bilateral trade and economic relations.

The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Russia will take retaliatory measures in connection with the next hostile steps of Lithuania.

We remind you that at the end of May, the government of Lithuania approved the ban proposed by the parliament of the republic on the import of nearly 2,800 goods of Russian and Belarusian origin.

The ban went into effect on June 3.

The list includes mainly agricultural products such as meat, fish, milk and milk products, eggs, honey, vegetables, nuts, fruits, coffee, tea, spices, cereals, flour, starch, oils and fats, sugar, cocoa, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, vinegar, animal feed, waste from the food industry, as well as tobacco and its substitutes.

Earlier, the Vlachs in Lithuania approved a ban on the import of goods of plant and animal origin from Russia and Belarus. It entered into force on March 8. Initially, it was planned to ban the import of only grain, but after negotiations with Latvian farmers, it was decided to expand the list.

Lithuania also seeks to limit imports of goods of Russian and Belarusian origin from third countries.

Ukraine should be allowed to strike Russian military targets in Belarus if it is necessary for its defense. This opinion was expressed at the end of May by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, in a comment on "Svoboda" radio.

Before the summit of NATO foreign ministers in Prague, he was asked whether the Ukrainian army should strike targets on the territory of Belarus.

The use of Western weapons to strike against Russia is supported by the United Kingdom, Denmark, the Czech Republic, France, the Netherlands, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Poland and Norway.

Lithuania is hosting a large-scale NATO exercise in the Baltic Sea in June.
