Passengers of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 -95LR of Azimut Airlines operating a flight on the Sochi-Antalya route that caught fire on landing in Turkey, filed a class action against the airline, said one of the passengers to Izvestia.
„We are currently filing a lawsuit against the company “Azimut” about what happened to us. There was a sharp landing, there was an impact and after a minute the plane caught fire, she noted.
The victims mention in the complaint that they inhaled carbon monoxide and asked the airline for “appropriate support”.
On the evening of November 24, the aviation portal HavaSosyalMedya reported a fire that engulfed a plane of the Russian airline Azimut while landing at Antalya airport. The fire was extinguished, and there were no fatalities among the passengers and staff, the Federal Air Transport Agency announced.
The Russian Consulate General in Antalya said it was in contact with resort airport management following the fire on board the plane and urged passengers to liaise with tour operators and insurers if necessary.
The Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Antalya, in cooperation with the Turkish side, the Federal Agency for Air Transport and the airline "Azimut", is working on the issues of providing the necessary assistance to the passengers of the carrier, the diplomatic mission said in a statement.
Part of the Russians left the airport safely, the rest decided to wait for their luggage to be collected, food was provided for them. Passengers are accommodated in a hotel until the arrival of the replacement flight.
The issue of allowing 10 Russians, left without international passports as a result of the fire, into Turkish territory has been resolved with the Turkish side.
According to the latest information, the plane made a rough landing as a result of strong wind, a representative of the airline told RIA Novosti. After landing, one engine caught fire.
The flight commander ordered evacuation by inflatable slides. The passengers were transported safely to the airport terminal and no one was injured.
