China strongly opposes US arms sales to Taiwan and demands that Washington end it immediately, reports "Reuters".
China's Ministry of Defense said it had filed a complaint with the United States about the matter.
"The Chinese military will continue to strengthen its military exercises and resolutely defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity,", the ministry emphasized.
The US State Department has approved the sale of spare and repair parts for F-16 fighter jets to Taipei for about $80 million.
According to the Pentagon, this will help improve Taiwan's security, maintain political stability and military balance, and support economic progress in the region.
Taiwan said the sale, which is expected to be finalized in July, will boost the combat and defense needs of its air force.
