Some countries have abandoned their intentions to attend "the peace conference" for Ukraine in Switzerland. This is claimed by TASS, referring to the Ukrainian service of Radio Liberty.

For this reason, the number of participants in the summit is reduced from 93 to 78.

The information was provided by unidentified EU diplomats, but without naming the countries that opted out.

One diplomat suggested that the number of countries that have reconsidered could grow.

Sergey Nikiforov, a spokesman for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, declined to specify the number of countries involved.

"We would not like to say the final number," he stated.

Switzerland plans to hold a conference on Ukraine on June 15-16.

Earlier, the country's foreign ministry announced that Bern had invited over 160 delegations to the Burgenstock conference, including from the G-7, G-20 and BRICS countries. However, Russia was not invited.

President Vladimir Putin has stated that his country will not insist on participation if it is not wanted at the conference.

According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the event is a "road to nowhere" and Russia does not see the West's desire for fair play. Moscow has repeatedly stated that it has never refused to seek a peaceful settlement of the conflict with Kiev.
