US President-elect Donald Trump's team will work with the current US administration to resolve the conflict in Ukraine this year. This was stated by Mike Walz, a member of the US House of Representatives, Republican of Florida, Trump's future national security adviser.
„Trump has made clear the need to end this conflict, whether through an agreement or a ceasefire. There needs to be a discussion about how to bring both sides to the negotiating table as well as the parameters of the deal. That is exactly what we will be working on with the current administration before January and beyond," he said in an interview with Fox News.
Waltz added that he had already met with US national security adviser Jake Sullivan and stressed that US adversaries would not be able to take advantage of the transition period.
During the election campaign, Trump repeatedly stated that he would achieve a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis even before taking office.
