British military intelligence said in its latest report on the development of hostilities that Russian forces may have achieved what it called a "limited breakthrough" in the eastern outskirts of Chasov Yar, quoted by News.bg.
The Russian army has in all probability captured the village of Ivanovskoye, which is located south of Chasov Yar, the British military wrote.
Heavy fighting continues in urban areas, the report says.
At the same time, Russian troops will most likely remain on the eastern side of the canal, which runs through Chasov Yar and serves as an obstacle to the advance.
British military intelligence notes that the Russian army is using infantry units for the Chasov Yar offensive, whose losses remain high. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also reported that the populated area was subjected to artillery strikes, including using thermobaric munitions.
"Chasov Yar is likely to represent an important target for Russia due to its strategic location on the plateau, as well as its past use as a logistics center for the Ukrainian armed forces," the report's authors write. p>
