Ursula von der Leyen was re-elected for a second five-year term as President of the European Commission. This decision was taken today by the European Parliament, BTA reports.
Von der Leyen won the election with 401 votes, well over the minimum requirement of 361 votes. Despite opposition from 284 members of the European Parliament (EP), her victory was clear. In addition, there were 15 abstentions and seven ballots were deemed invalid, as confirmed by EP President Roberta Mezzola.
