A German MP has harsh words for Borisov and Peevski - 1

Their own interests are obviously more important for Borisov and Peevski than the welfare of Bulgaria. The rapporteur for Bulgaria of the German Free Democrats, Thomas Hacker, with sharp words about the political crisis in Bulgaria:

Bulgaria has been in a political crisis for years, recall a number of German publications on the occasion of the failed third attempt to form a regular government. Previously, the DPA agency reported that the small populist party “There is such a people" (ITN), which was tasked by the head of state Rumen Radev to form a new government, today returned the mandate unfulfilled after it failed to secure the required majority of 121 out of a total of 240 deputies.

Thus, the EU member state is heading for the seventh parliamentary elections in a row for the last 4 years.

For the personal interest of Borisov and Peevski

Commenting on the political situation in Bulgaria, Thomas Hacker, spokesman for the parliamentary group of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) on European policy and rapporteur for Bulgaria, stated:

"It is already difficult to explain to people that elections must be held in Bulgaria again - for the seventh time since 2020. This perpetual cycle undermines voter confidence in democracy and casts a bad light on the country's democratic culture.

Unfortunately, Boyko Borisov and Delyan Peevski are pulling the strings behind the scenes. Obviously, their own interests are more important to them than the welfare of the country."

More of the same?

DPA cites a current public opinion survey conducted by Market Links, according to which it is unlikely that new elections, which will probably be held in October, will significantly change the current unclear majority situation in the fragmented Bulgarian parliament.< /p>

Also, low voter turnout is expected, as in the last elections held on June 9, adds the agency.
