Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip show that the Jewish state lacks determination to end the armed conflict in the Palestinian enclave. This statement was made by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in the context of the latest Israeli strike on a school in Gaza.
„Every time the mediators step up their efforts to try to achieve a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip, Israel commits another deliberate killing of civilians - this proves conclusively that the Israeli side lacks real political will to put an end to this brutal war”, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
Egypt condemns "Israel's continued strikes against civilians in Gaza" and asked the international community to “develop a unified position on issues of this kind to guarantee the security of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip”. Cairo stressed that despite all the obstacles put in place by the parties, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry will continue to make “all the necessary political efforts to reach a cease-fire agreement in Gaza”.
On the night of August 10, Israel attacked the Al-Tabi'in school. in the administrative center of the enclave, Gaza City. The enclave's media relations department claimed on its Telegram channel that the attack was carried out directly against the school building during morning prayers. As a result, the department said, more than 100 people were killed and several dozen were injured. The Gaza Ministry of Health has not yet confirmed information on the number of casualties.
For its part, the Israeli armed forces said that the school housed the headquarters of the Palestinian movement Hamas, which was destroyed. Hamas spokesman Izzat al-Rishq claimed that “there was not a single rebel there” during the impact.
