German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has described Russia's war in Ukraine as a conflict that has already has gone beyond regional and acquired international dimensions. This statement was made after a meeting in Berlin with the defense ministers of France, Great Britain, Poland and Italy, reports Reuters, quoted by BTA.
Strengthening military aid to Ukraine
The five countries have agreed to step up their support for Ukraine's military industry, underscoring the importance of joint Western efforts as the war, launched by Russia in February 2022, is now in its third year.
"Our goal is to provide Ukraine with the opportunity to act from a position of strength," said Pistorius during a press conference.
Coordination through NATO
From January 2024 military assistance to Ukraine will be coordinated through NATO's Security and Training Assistance Mission for Ukraine (NSATU). The headquarters of the mission is based in the German city of Wiesbaden.
Next meeting in Poland
Pistorius announced that the next meeting between the defense ministers of these five countries is planned for early 2024. and will be held in Poland.
