Moscow to NATO: Calm down, we will not attack Europe - 1

The statement by the head of the NATO military committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, about the possibility of pre-emptive strikes against targets on Russian territory in the event of an armed conflict is generally a statement of intent that must be accepted seriously.

This was stated by the director of the Institute of the CIS countries in Sevastopol, Captain First Rank Sergey Gorbachev told RIA Novosti.

Earlier, Bauer said the alliance was discussing launching pre-emptive precision strikes on Russian territory in the event of an armed conflict.

„The blow of our Oreshnik expectedly caused many assessments and various proposals, and NATO took a fighting position. At first glance, these words seem aggressive, but in fact, the analysis of what was said shows a number of self-limitations.

Bauer spoke of a possible attack by Russia and retaliation by the alliance, "for which we must prepare". Secondly, in principle, the head of the NATO committee notes the unpreparedness of the Westerners for a large-scale war, the expert said.

I think that the admiral's words have already scared some politicians who will want to speed up the treaty processes, but the main thing is: we will not attack Europe, let the admiral calm down, Gorbachev said.
