France condemned the Israeli military shelling of a school in the Gaza Strip, which killed more than 100 people, and called for compliance with international humanitarian law. This is stated in a message of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic.

„France condemns in the strongest possible terms the Israeli attack on Al-Tabiin school on August 9 in the Gaza Strip. Israel must respect international humanitarian law,” the communique says.

French diplomats noted that for several weeks, school buildings "have repeatedly come under attack" by the Israeli armed forces, resulting in an “unacceptable number of civilian casualties”. They also called for the immediate release of all hostages and a ceasefire regarding the humanitarian emergency in Gaza.

On the morning of August 10, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that the country's air force attacked the headquarters of the Palestinian radical movement Hamas, located in a school "Et-Tabiin" in Gaza City. According to information from the IDF, this headquarters was involved in planning and carrying out attacks against the Israeli military. Hamas said Israel was "looking for excuses" for carrying out attacks against civilian targets and called the IDF's claims a lie.

According to the civil protection service of the Gaza Strip, quoted by the television channel Al Jazeera, at least 93 people were victims of the shelling, including h. 11 children and 6 wives. In turn, the press office of the government of the Gaza Strip reported that more than 100 people were killed as a result of the shelling of the school. The IDF called these figures overstated.
