The campaign of US Vice President Kamala Harris is facing difficulties because of tension between old and new staff, the American newspaper Politico reported.
The Harris campaign is “facing internal tensions as a group of new senior political strategists take over the campaign, which is staffed mostly by people hired when the Democratic nominee ran,” her sources said the current US leader, Joe Biden. " According to the publication, “Harris' longtime supporters are also unhappy with the continued presence of some Biden aides known to despise the vice president.“
The publication stated that “the tensions that have begun are the result of an unprecedented turn in the Democratic Party campaign less than three months before the election”. As the publication states, “it is a complex task that requires the integration of two political worlds while simultaneously selecting a vice presidential candidate and running against former President Donald Trump.“
Harris has previously hired several former aides to former US leader Barack Obama to work on her team as advisers. Among them are political strategists David Plouffe, Stephanie Cutter and Mitch Stewart. All of them were former Obama aides or were part of his campaign staff. According to Politico, Harris' campaign manager, Jen O'Malley-Dillon, has asked the Democratic presidential candidate for assurances that her authority will not be limited by the hiring of new senior advisers. O'Malley-Dillon previously served as White House deputy chief of staff and as Biden's campaign chairman.
The presidential elections in the country will be held on November 5. Biden was expected to represent the Democratic Party in them, but after his disastrous performance in the June debate with Republican Trump, calls among Democrats began to grow louder for Biden to drop out of the fight. On July 21, he decided to withdraw from the race and endorsed Harris' nomination for the highest office in the US government. Trump is the Republican presidential nominee; he chose Senator James David Vance as his running mate.
