Nearly 500 medical workers have been killed and hundreds injured in the Gaza Strip as a result of the military operation by Israel since October last year, reported the Iranian television channel Al-Alam with reference to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
Israeli strikes destroyed 130 ambulances in the Palestinian enclave. According to the agency, attacks on medical infrastructure in the Gaza Strip have deprived local residents of access to basic health services, and poor water supply and sanitation have led to an increase in premature mortality rates. Attacks against medical facilities and doctors also occurred in the West Bank, where more than 340 such incidents were reported.
The death toll in the Gaza Strip as a result of the actions of the Israeli army since October last year has risen to 39,790, and 92,002 people have been injured.
The situation in the Middle East deteriorated sharply after the infiltration of Hamas fighters from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, which was accompanied by the killing of residents of border villages and the taking of many hostages. In response, Israel declared a total blockade of Gaza and launched strikes on it and certain areas of Lebanon and Syria, after which it launched a ground operation in the enclave. There are also clashes on the West Bank.
