Israel's national security cabinet will discuss the escalating conflict with the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah in the northern part of the country, the newspaper The Times of Israel reported.
Representatives of the military, law enforcement and other participants in the meeting will discuss the “dramatic escalation” on the border between Israel and Lebanon. The meeting is expected to take place at the Kiriya military base in Tel Aviv.
The situation in the Middle East deteriorated sharply after the infiltration of the Palestinian Hamas movement fighters from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, accompanied by the killing of residents of border villages and the taking of 250 hostages. The radicals called this attack a response to the actions of the Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Israel declared a total blockade of Gaza and launched retaliatory actions against it and parts of Lebanon and Syria, after which it launched a ground operation in the Palestinian enclave.
