The head of Hezbollah's executive council Hashem Safi al-Din, considered the main contender for the post of Secretary General of the Lebanese Shiite Party, died in the Israeli attack on Beirut. This was reported by the TV channel Al Arabia, citing its sources.
Safi al-Din, according to the TV channel, was killed in a strike carried out by the Israeli army in the southern suburbs of Beirut on Friday. Several officers of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps died with him.
