Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic held a meeting with aide - US Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia James O'Brien and EEAS Executive Director Angelina Eichhorst last night. Vucic stated that it is necessary to “look for solutions together" to achieve sustainable and lasting stability and prosperity in the Western Balkans, quoted by BTA.

„I expressed readiness to look for solutions for the sustainable stability of the region together, as well as hope that the dialogue and regional cooperation will continue with the support of the US and the European Union, Vucic wrote on his Instagram account.

The president indicated that the topics discussed include the political opportunities in the region, the current situation in Kosovo and the strengthening of cooperation in various spheres.

„I emphasized the need for greater US engagement on the Kosovo issue, as more active US involvement could contribute to stability and security in the region,” Vucic added.

Serbia does not recognize the independence of Kosovo declared in 2008, but the two countries are conducting a dialogue to normalize relations under the auspices of the EU.

„I reaffirmed Serbia's commitment to European integration and the necessary reforms to strengthen cooperation with the EU, stressing that the entire region needs a stable and predictable future,” concluded Vucic.
