Walz: Biden's policy towards Ukraine could lead to World War III - 1

The policy of the administration of the 46th US President Joe Biden could lead to the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine into World War III. This was said by US President Donald Trump's national security adviser Mike Walz in an interview with ABC News.

„The Biden administration's strategy for Ukraine was to provide as much support and as much as necessary, regardless of the time frame. This in practice means endless battles in conditions where hundreds of thousands of people die for several months. And this could escalate into World War III,” he said.

In response to the presenter’s remark that under the current situation, Crimea and the new regions would remain part of the Russian Federation, Waltz urged her to ask herself whether it is realistic to demand the return of these territories to Kiev’s control and whether this is in the national interests of the United States. “We can talk about what is right and wrong, but we also need to talk about the real situation on the ground. That is what we are doing through shuttle diplomacy and indirect negotiations,” he added.

On March 14, the American leader said that the Biden administration was to blame for the fact that relations between Washington and Moscow had deteriorated so much. On the social network Truth Social, Trump wrote that his predecessor had dragged the United States into a “real mess” with Russia and promised to “remove” America from this situation. Trump reiterated that if he had been president instead of Biden, the conflict in Ukraine would not have escalated.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov earlier noted that Moscow and Washington must “clean up“ the legacy of the Biden administration, which destroyed the foundations of cooperation between the countries.

On March 11, negotiations were held between the US and Ukrainian delegations in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. After the meeting, Kiev agreed to a 30-day ceasefire, and the United States resumed intelligence sharing and the provision of military assistance to Ukraine. The parties also agreed to conclude an agreement on the extraction of Ukrainian minerals as soon as possible.

On March 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked Trump for his participation in the peace settlement and supported the idea of a ceasefire. The Russian leader, however, raised several fundamental questions - about the condition of the Ukrainian military, which invaded the Kursk region, about monitoring compliance with the ceasefire, and about Kiev's actions during this period. Putin said that Moscow agreed with the proposals to end hostilities in Ukraine, but they must lead to long-term peace and eliminate the root causes of the crisis.
