The refusal of the Georgian opposition parties to recognize the election results is an attempt to justify themselves, he said at a briefing, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze, reported RIA Novosti.

„Any attempt to oppose the constitutional order is a hopeless attempt by politicians to somehow justify themselves”, he said.

Kobahidze emphasized that the first session of the parliament will be held as usual and the deputies will approve the government.
The prime minister also expressed hope that Georgia will be able to realign its relations with the US and the EU in early 2025.

Parliamentary elections were held in Georgia yesterday. According to the Central Election Commission, after processing the protocols of more than 99% of the polling stations, the ruling party "Georgian Dream" won 54.2%, and the opposition - 37%. The three main opposition parties said they would not accept the results.

According to Georgian laws, the winning party can nominate a candidate for prime minister. Its approval requires the support of 76 deputies out of 150.

The main struggle is between Georgian Dream, which advocates maintaining relations with Russia, and opposition parties, which Moscow says are financed by Western grants.
