Representatives of the Palestinian movement Hamas at consultations in Doha will propose to the mediators to conclude an agreement implying an immediate end to the conflict in the Gaza Strip, reported the TV channel Asharq News with reference to a source from the movement.
„The Hamas movement will offer the mediators of the negotiations in Doha a comprehensive agreement providing for an immediate end to the war,” said an unnamed interlocutor of the channel. According to him, Hamas' proposal includes the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip at the same time as the release of all hostages held in the Palestinian enclave.
„We prefer a comprehensive deal implemented in one stage that will end the war once and for all,” a Hamas source stressed to Asharq News. He clarified that the movement will not reject the peace initiatives that the mediators can present to the negotiations, but the main condition for Hamas's agreement to any proposals is the end of the conflict.
Qatar Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani is expected to receive the head of Israel's Mossad intelligence agency in Doha on Sunday. David Barnea and CIA Director William Burns regarding the resumption of consultations aimed at reaching an agreement to implement a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and release hostages held by Hamas. On October 25, Barnea met in Cairo with representatives of Egypt's security forces, which is also acting as a mediator between the parties to the conflict.
