Germany will continue to provide military support to Ukraine, despite the collapse of the ruling coalition, the MP from "Alternative for Germany" told TASS. Steffen Kotre.
„The collapse of the coalition will not affect Germany's expansion of the war through arms supplies. The opposition CDU party, like the ruling parties, is interested in a confrontation with Russia and would like to prolong the war through arms supplies, Cotre said. At the same time, he emphasized that the reaction of the US President-elect Donald Trump could have a real impact.
However, even if, according to the MP, the US reduces or ends its support for Kiev, there will be no change in Germany's wrong policy towards Ukraine. “In this sense, the collapse of the coalition has little effect,” said Coutre.
He also noted that the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) is not interested in a policy of détente in relations with Russia, it is connected to the United States and wants to deploy long-range American missiles in Germany. “Only the United States will be able to stop these plans”, Coutre concluded.
Germany is the second largest arms supplier to Ukraine after the United States. So far, Germany has allocated funds for military support to Kiev and committed to future spending of around 28 billion euros. In line with the 2025 budget agreement. Germany will allocate 4 billion euros for military support to Ukraine, which is half of what was set for the expiring year 2024.
Meanwhile, Ukraine introduced changes in the country's legislation that will allow the civilian population to use weapons found during wartime, the UNIAN agency reported.
