A delegation of the Taliban, whose movement is under sanctions for terrorist activity by the United Nations, will take part for for the first time at the UN climate conference (COP29), which will be held in Azerbaijan, reports AFP, citing the press secretary of the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdul Qahar Balhi.
„The delegation of the Afghan government will be in Baku”, the agency quoted the press secretary of the Taliban-controlled foreign ministry as saying.
At the end of June, a Taliban delegation already participated in an event under the auspices of the United Nations - in one of the meetings of special envoys of 25 countries in Afghanistan and representatives of international organizations.
This year, Azerbaijan chairs COP29. The climate conference is scheduled for November 11-22.
