The French Foreign Ministry helped evacuate 115 people from Gaza this week. They have already arrived in France, the ministry said on Friday, adding that France continues to oppose the forced displacement of people from Gaza, Reuters reported, quoted by News.bg.
Earlier this month, France said it could recognize the Palestinian state in June. Some countries in the Middle East may also recognize Israel.
"We need to move forward with the recognition of the Palestinian state. In the next few months, we will do it. I am not doing it to please anyone. I will do it because at some point it will be right," the French representative said.
Although Palestine is recognized as a sovereign state by almost 150 countries, most major Western powers have not yet recognized this status. Among them are the United States, Britain, France, Germany and Japan.
