British Chancellor of the Exchequer Darren Jones said it was unlikely the government would ask the chairman of the "Reform UK" Nigel Farage to act as a mediator in contacts with the newly elected US President Donald Trump, Reuters reported.
Farage is a friend of Trump and attended an event in Florida to mark his election victory. The British politician offered to mediate negotiations between the British government and a Trump administration that will take over in January 2025.
“I think it is rather unlikely,”, Jones told “Sky News”. The finance minister said the Reform UK leader, who is an MP, should probably be spending his time with his constituents, not the US.
