Five people died in a night drone attack in the Ukrainian city Nikolaev, the chairman of the Nikolaev regional military administration Vitaly Kim announced in "Telegram". Around 01:50 local time, the city was attacked by Russian drones, and the Ukrainian anti-aircraft forces managed to shoot down five drones, BTA quoted.
The attack caused fires and destruction in high-rise and private buildings. One house was completely destroyed, and other buildings, including cars on the grounds, sustained significant damage. The explosions also led to breakdowns in the heat transmission network and interruptions in the heating and gas supply in the affected areas.
As a result of the attack, a 45-year-old woman was hospitalized with injuries, and 22 people sought psychological help on the spot.
Nikolaev is home to a significant Bulgarian community of around 5,000 people, mainly in the Ternovka district. Bulgarians settled in Mykolaiv region from the beginning of the 19th century, founding the settlement of Ternovka in 1802.
