France: Western allies should not rush to conclusions on Ukraine under the new US administration - 1

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barro said Ukraine's allies should not jump to conclusions about US President-elect Donald Trump's stance on the war in Ukraine, but give his administration time. , to determine its actions. His speech was made during the Paris Peace Forum, where he stressed that the Western powers should remain united in their support for Kiev and allow Ukraine to determine the time and conditions for a possible negotiation process, as quoted by News.bg.

Trump, who has often criticized the scale of Western aid to Ukraine, is believed to have recently held a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin in which he advised him not to escalate military action. The Kremlin, however, denied that such a conversation took place, with Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov calling reports of the conversation a “pure fiction”.

Barro stressed that it is important that Western allies provide Kiev with all the necessary means to deal with Russian military forces and that Ukraine should not be forced to accept the “law of the strongest“ imposed by Russia.

France's defense minister also announced that Paris will send a new batch of long-range missiles to Ukraine to boost its defense capability.

During the forum, Finland's Minister of Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen called for a thorough analysis of the Russian threat, noting that the risk associated with Russia is not limited to Ukraine and is a global existential threat.
