Fragments of the Berlin Wall are scattered in 540 cities in 62 countries, the German newspaper BILD reports with the help of information from the German foundation for understanding dictatorship. Among these pieces of history there is one particularly strange case – part of the wall is installed in the men's room of the Main Street Station hotel-casino in Las Vegas, where four urinals are hung directly on the historical fragment, as quoted by Focus.
With its 2,000 pieces and a total length of about 2.4 kilometers, the remains of the Berlin Wall can be seen in unusual places, here are some of them:
- The Museum in Kingston, Jamaica – Part of the wall was presented to the athlete Usain Bolt in 2009
- CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia – Three segments of "Podstamer Platz" are exhibited as a symbol of victory over division.
- Schengen area, Luxembourg – Since 2010, the fragment of the wall has symbolized the aspiration for a united Europe.
- The Vatican Gardens – Pope John Paul II receives part of the wall as a gift from an Italian businessman who buys it at auction.
- Heidi Klum's house, USA – In 2019, the actress's husband surprised her with a unique gift – part of the Berlin Wall located in the garden.
These unusual places are reminders of the significance of the Berlin Wall and its enduring message against division and dictatorship, no matter how extravagant its new locations may be.
