Lebanon and the group "Hezbollah" agreed to the US proposal for a cease-fire with Israel. However, some comments were made about the content of the document, Reuters noted, as quoted by Focus.

The assistant to the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Ali Hassan Khalil, specified that on Monday official Beirut sent a written response to the US ambassador in the country. Meanwhile, the White House special representative, Amos Hochstein, headed to the Lebanese capital to continue negotiations. "Hezbollah" for his part, expressed support for his longtime ally – the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri – in efforts to achieve a truce.

"Lebanon presented its comments on the document in a positive atmosphere. "All the comments we have sent confirm the strict compliance with Resolution 1701 with all its provisions," Khalil assured. It was this UN Security Council resolution that ended the previous war between "Hezbollah" and Israel in 2006.

The terms of the document require "Hezbollah" to have no armed presence in the area between the Lebanese-Israeli border and the Litani River, which flows about 30 kilometers north of the border.

Khalil warned that the success of the initiative now depends on Israel. He added that if the Israeli side did not want a solution, it "could create 100 problems”.
