The president of the incoming governing coalition of Slovak Party “Voice– Social democracy“ and Interior Minister Matusz Šutaj Eštok warned against drawing NATO countries into a conflict with Russia due to the use of long-range missiles against Russian territory. He described such a development of events as dangerous and a possible obstacle to peace negotiations, Slovak news agency TASR reports, quoted by BTA.
„I believe that the news about the potential use of American, British and French long-range missiles for direct strikes on Russian territory is very dangerous. "If a NATO missile hits a Russian city, there will be a harsh retaliation," Shutai Eshtok said. He added that, in his opinion, Ukrainians will initially bear the consequences of such an escalation.
The minister emphasized that it is strange that the war escalated just before the inauguration of Donald Trump as the new president of the USA. “Over the weekend, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky finally talked about the possibility of a diplomatic end to the war, and the West responded by allowing the shelling of Russian territory with allied missiles,” Shutai Eshtok added.
On November 17, US President Joe Biden first authorized Ukraine to use US-supplied long-range missiles to strike Russian territory.
