Romanian authorities are investigating 36- year-old citizen of Bulgaria for smuggling cigarettes through the Ruse-Giurgevo border crossing, reports the state news agency of our northern neighbor Agerpres, quoted by BTA.
It is specified that our compatriot was caught during a joint inspection of a car driven by him with German license plates. The team of border officials from both countries found a total of 58,400 cigarette butts hidden in various places in the vehicle. The cigarettes were of different brands and with Bulgarian labels.
The value of the cigarettes is estimated at 87,600 lei (about BGN 34,200). They were seized by the officers, and a criminal case was opened against the driver of the car.
