Albania will join the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) from January 1, 2025, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama announced through a post on the “X“ social network.
„Today, Albania has become part of the single European payment system, which means that for all money transfers of Albanians from Europe to Albania or vice versa, there will no longer be financial costs, starting from January 1, 2025,”, he wrote yesterday Rama in his “X“
profile
Rama described this as “another big step on Albania's path to the European Union by 2030”.
The Albanian example added that this step will save “millions and millions of euros” from fees on money transfers, which is due to “increasing confidence in Albania and further moving Albania closer to the top – EU membership“.
Rama emphasized that Albania's accession to the geographical scope of SEPA is another historic milestone, the result of years of dedicated efforts and unwavering commitment by the Albanian government, the financial sector and the country's partners. He added that this step is an “irreversible effort” Albania to bring itself in sync with European standards and principles in every aspect.
