Iran will hold talks on Friday with the EU, Britain, France and Germany to revive the stalled in 2015. nuclear agreement between the country and the six major powers, including the three European countries and the United States, Kyodo reported, citing Iranian diplomatic sources, BTA writes.

The talks to be held in Geneva coincide with the return of President-elect Donald Trump to the White House in January. Trump withdrew from the agreement during his first term in office in 2018. Iran then retaliated by increasing its nuclear activities beyond the limits set out in the agreement.

The planned talks between Iran, the three European countries and the EU, which is acting as a mediator, will be the country's first nuclear talks since reformist President Massoud Pezeshkian took office in late July after Ebrahim Raisi died in a helicopter crash in may.

According to the sources, Iran's nuclear program and European sanctions against Iranian airlines and shipping companies are expected to be discussed during the talks. Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi, a veteran of Iran's nuclear negotiations, will lead the country's team in Geneva.

With the 2015 nuclear deal signed with the six major powers - Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the US - Iran agreed to limit its nuclear activities in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions.

Representatives of Moscow, Beijing and Washington will not participate in the negotiations, according to Iranian sources.
