45 Lebanese soldiers killed in Israeli attacks - 1

The United Nations Interim Peacekeeping Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) strongly condemned the Israeli strikes against the Lebanese army that led to the death of 45 Lebanese servicemen. The statement was made in the context of the escalating conflict between Israel and the Lebanese Shiite group "Hezbollah", DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

A call for compliance with international law

„We are seriously disturbed by the attacks on the Armed Forces of Lebanon, which refrain from participating in the armed actions between "Hezbollah" and Israel”, UNIFIL said in an official statement. The organization described these strikes as a “gross violation of international humanitarian law”.

Lebanese army out of conflict

According to the information, the Lebanese army is not directly involved in the conflict between Israel and "Hezbollah", which makes attacks against it even more problematic. UNIFIL insists on respecting the status of the Lebanese military and avoiding actions that could lead to an escalation of tensions.

The UNIFIL statement emphasizes the need for strict compliance with international humanitarian law and the protection of neutral parties to the conflict. This appeal comes against the backdrop of intense fighting and significant human losses, which have exacerbated the situation in the region.
