High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell called on Israel to support the proposal for a truce in Lebanon, which, according to him, contains all the necessary guarantees for the country's security, BTA reports.
This statement was made during a meeting of the foreign ministers of the G-7 countries, with Borel stressing that there is no excuse for not implementing the agreement with the Iran-backed movement “Hezbollah”.
Borrell added that Israel must be pressured to approve the proposed agreement today. The possibility of a cease-fire between Israel and “Hezbollah” is a key moment in the efforts to stabilize the region.
According to an Israeli official, Israel is likely to approve the US proposal for a truce with “Hezbollah” in short order.
