The European Commission announced today that it is opening criminal proceedings procedure against Bulgaria and 22 other EU countries because they have not fully implemented the European cyber security rules, BTA informs.
EU countries had until October 17 to implement the rules, which affect critical sectors such as public electronic communications services, ICT service management, digital services, waste water and waste management, healthcare, energy, transport, manufacturing of critical products , postal and courier services, public administration. Full enforcement of the legislation is important to improve resilience and incident response capability, the release noted.
Our country, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Cyprus, Latvia, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland and Sweden have a period of two months for an answer, after which the EC can continue with the criminal procedure, the announcement adds.
