Ukraine's ambassador to Germany, Oleksiy Makeev, expressed his hope that Russia's war against Ukraine will be a topic of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Germany and called for no red lines to be placed on German aid to Kiev, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.< /p>

"Today, more than ever, it is necessary to act. This is what I expect from the democratic parties in the election campaign," Makeev said in an interview for DPA, which was published today.

"I think it is wrong to draw red lines on ourselves, not on the enemy and the aggressor,", the Ukrainian diplomat pointed out.

Support for Ukraine is an issue that provokes disagreements among the parties in the lower house of the German parliament, DPA notes.

If Olaf Scholz's Social Democrats, the Greens, the Free Democratic Party and the Conservatives support large-scale arms supplies to Ukraine, the far-right Alternative for Germany party, Sarah Wagenknecht's new coalition and the "Left" are against.

Even among the parties that support aid to Ukraine, there are differences. The Social Democrats are against providing Kiev with Taurus missiles. with a range of up to 500 km. The Greens, the Free Democratic Party and the conservative Christian Democratic Union support the provision of such missiles.

Olexii Makeev called for Ukraine to be supported without restrictions in its defensive struggle against Russia.
