The Ukrainian armed forces have regained control of the village of Novy Komar, in the Volnovakha district of eastern Donetsk region, the spokesman for the Ukrainian operational-strategic military group "Khortytsia" Nazar Voloshin announced today, quoted by Ukrinform, BTA reported.
"The enemy has been driven out, and the village of Novy Komar is now under the control of the defense forces," Voloshin said. The Russian occupiers are suffering heavy losses, and soldiers from the 40th Russian Marine Corps Brigade have been captured, Ukrinform notes.
The information about the return of Novy Komar to Ukrainian control has not been independently confirmed. Earlier today, Vladimir Rogov, a representative of the Russian occupation authorities, was quoted by TASS as saying that the Russian army was clearing the village of remaining Ukrainian soldiers.
Novy Komar is located just over 1 kilometer north of the key town of Velika Novosilka, which has been the scene of fierce fighting in recent times.
