US President-elect Donald Trump has announced that he has nominated former Senator David Perdue to be US Ambassador to China.
„David has valuable experience in building our relationship with China. He has lived in Singapore and Hong Kong and spent most of his career working in Asia and China," Trump wrote on his Truth Social page. “He will play an important role in implementing my strategy to maintain peace in the region and a productive business relationship with Chinese leaders.“
Perdue has served in the US Senate since 2015. until 2021 He previously held leadership positions at major companies including Reebok and Dollar General. In addition, he worked for several years as the managing director of the international clothing company Gitano Group in Singapore and at the branch of the Sara Lee Corporation in Hong Kong.
The position of US ambassador to Beijing is currently held by Nicholas Burns
