Billionaire businessman David Sachs will join the new US administration as a member of Elon Musk's team, which has been given a mandate by US President-elect Donald Trump to reform the bureaucracy in Washington.< /strong>
This opinion was expressed to TASS by the head of one of the risk funds in the Silicon Valley in Northern California, where the US high-tech industry is concentrated.
„David is a very smart guy, he is very qualified for this job. He is close to Elon, investing in many of his companies. So he entered the new US administration as part of Elon's team, the entrepreneur said, commenting on Trump's announcement of Sachs' appointment to a new position in charge of artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency policy.
„I think this will be very well received in Silicon Valley and will be very useful for the high-tech industry, especially in the Trump administration,” said the head of the venture capital fund. "There is a great chance that technology in America will develop faster under him and Trump," the entrepreneur is convinced. According to him, Sachs is "not a radical Republican", takes a more centrist position and demonstrates a "willingness to listen to the other side". “And Musk, of course, is a giant. Trump is great to work with. I think there is a chance that the next four years will be shocking for the country”, the businessman added.
Sacks, 52, co-founded venture capital firm Craft Ventures as well as Yammer, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2012. In 2024 Sachs, according to Time magazine, was one of Republican Trump's most trusted allies in Silicon Valley. In June, he hosted a Trump campaign fundraiser in San Francisco. The ticket price for this event ranged from 50 thousand to 300 thousand dollars. The Trump campaign is believed to have been able to get up to $12 million of that.
Sachs has repeatedly criticized the current US administration's approach to the Ukrainian conflict. He emphasized that by allowing strikes on Russian territory with ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles, the current US President Joe Biden contributed to the escalation of hostilities.
Trump will be inaugurated on January 20, 2025
