Russia is not ready to make concessions when it comes to Ukraine. This was stated by the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, quoted by "Reuters" and News.bg.
She stressed that President Vladimir Putin's proposals to end the conflict must be implemented.
Zakharova made her remarks after being asked about US President-elect Donald Trump's call on Sunday for an immediate ceasefire and talks between Ukraine and Russia to stop the "madness".
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has been pushing for his country to be invited to join NATO, responded to Trump's comment by saying Kiev needs effective security guarantees.
Zakharova pointed out that anyone who thinks Russia will make concessions to Ukraine has either a short memory or insufficient knowledge of the subject.
Putin's proposals for peace must be implemented, she was categorical. The Russian leader said that in order to have peace, Ukraine should not join NATO and that he wants the entire territory of the four Ukrainian regions, which he claims are already part of Russia.
